Minimum Requirements: • Education: BA/BS or higher degree in Safety or Health or closely related field, or the equivalent of 15 years of relevant safety and health experience.
• Experience: A Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is preferred for this position. The individual must possess a valid state driver’s license, and must have proficiency with Microsoft office applications. It is preferred that the candidate hold membership with a nationally recognized safety and health related organization.
Job Description: URS is seeking an Industrial Safety Lead to be located at our Richland, WA location.
Job Overview
The Industrial Safety Lead is responsible for supporting worker safety and health needs, including injury and event response and case management. He/she will support work planning activities to ensure system/facility activities can be safely worked as scheduled. The Industrial Safety lead will promote safety program development and process management, and provide professional authority support on safety and health procedures, OSHA standards, and DOE orders. He/she will ensure effective implementation of safety and health rules, regulations, and procedures, and will participate in meetings to report on safety policies. The Industrial Safety lead will prepare accident / event reports, and maintain safety statistics and other safety information for reporting and improving safety performance.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS
• Ensure effective field execution of industrial safety process.
• Ensure Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) principles are incorporated into organizational activities.
• Address any unsafe conditions and hazards and provide a safe and healthy work environment.
• Examine workplace conditions to ensure they are free from recognized hazards and conform to applicable policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
• Provide industrial safety assessments and surveillances in accordance with schedules.
• Ensure employees are using safe tools and equipment and that the equipment is being properly maintained.
• Be knowledgeable of 29CFR1910 OSHA General Industry and 29CFR1926 Construction Industry regulations.
• Have cognizance of all DOE, Federal and State safety standards and regulations.
• Provide case management support and OSHA 300 logs and records management, including support to employees on workers’ compensation claims, as needed.
• Conduct accident / injury investigations.
• Interpret decisions based upon safety and health procedures, processes and practices.
• Meet Hanford and WTP site access requirements.
• Obtain and hold Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification
• Obtain and hold First Aid / CPR Qualification
