**About the Business Line** **Environment**
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources\.
**Job Summary** AECOM seeks a junior scientist to support data validation and quality assurance/quality control aspects of environmental projects for both private and Federal sector clients\. Applicant will support data validation efforts under the direction of a Senior Chemist\. Applicant will also be involved in the development of project Work Plans, Quality Assurance Project Plans, and the tracking of chemical data from the field through the laboratory\. Primary work responsibilities include:
+ Technical: Review and validate chemical data packages in accordance with EPA guidance to ensure compliance with published analytical methods and evaluate usability of environmental data\. Provide guidance on selection of appropriate analytical methods as part of project planning tasks\. An understanding of the Department of Defense Quality Systems Manual and the ability to interpret analytical data packages for compliance with analytical protocols and quality assurance project plans is desired\. Must have or be capable of being approved for security clearance in order to manage electronic data uploads to government databases such as ERPIMs or ERIS\. This is not a pharmaceutical or engineering position, and experience in these fields is not pertinent\.
+ Management: Serve as day\-to\-day coordinator between field personnel and analytical laboratories to track shipping and receipt of chemical samples and resolve chain\-of\-custody issues\. Work with Project Managers of various projects to develop and solicit bids from analytical laboratories in support of project and proposal efforts\.
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or other related discipline
+ 1\+ years of experience performing environmental analyses at an analytical testing laboratory in organic and/or inorganic sections/departments
+ Must demonstrate experience working with and knowledge of standard EPA analytical methods detailed in SW846 and other EPA methods and an understanding of data validation in accordance with EPA protocols
+ Must demonstrate knowledge of creating queries in Access and formatting in Excel
+ Knowledge of environmental contaminant chemistry principles
+ Knowledge of EPA, state and federal environmental regulatory framework
+ Ability to write and to convey thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner
+ Ability to organize data in an efficient and clear manner
+ Ability to learn through on\-the\-job experience
