**About the Business Line** **Water**
We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design\-build\.
**Job Summary** We are currently recruiting for an Associate Director \- Coastal Engineering to join our well\-established and experienced Coastal, Water and Flood Risk team for our centrally located Basingstoke or Exeter offices\.
Following our delivery of the award\-winning coastal flood and erosion risk management strategy for the City of Southampton, we have taken the lead in developing the design of flood defences for tidal sections of the River Itchen\. Our successful delivery and implementation of coastal strategies, particularly along the south coast, has led to us becoming recognised as market leaders in this field\.
We offer the following services that take a project through from initial conception to final completion \- coastal engineering, numerical modelling, assessment of flood and erosion risks, shoreline management plans, strategy plans, feasibility studies and site appraisals, coastal monitoring, EIAs, harbour studies, marine water quality, tidal power & offshore wind, dredging and reclamation, waterfront development planning, as well as physical modelling specification and supervision\.
As an Associate Director \- Coastal Engineering, your responsibilities will include:
+ Delivering projects such as those identified above\.
+ Providing advice on the engineering aspects of coastal and port development projects,
+ Undertaking feasibility studies\.
+ The development of coastal strategies\.
+ Preparation of project appraisal reports and leading on bid preparation\.
+ Undertaking structure condition assessments and designing coastal structures\.
+ Attend site during construction and be able to communicate effectively with contractor clients on design issues\.
+ Providing client\-facing advice on the engineering aspects of development projects\.
+ Leading on bid preparation\.
+ Undertaking team leadership responsibilities such as guidance and mentoring, and assisting with professional development and career progression\.
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Demonstrable Project Management experience, ideally with NEC knowledge\.
+ Prior experience of leading and managing multi\-disciplinary teams\.
+ Excellent working background and knowledge of feasibility reports, project appraisals and design of coastal engineering structures\.
+ Experienced in coasting engineering and management covering a wide range of issues such as the design of coastal defenses, reclamations, beach re\-charge schemes, overtopping scour, waves forces etc\.
+ Ability to represent AECOM at client and stakeholder meetings and workshops\.
+ Prior site experience would be advantageous\.
+ Effective leadership and financial skills along with bid management and tender capability\.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Degree educated in Civil or Coastal Engineering, or equivalent\.
+ MSc level in Coastal, Civil or Maritime Engineering or similar would be beneficial\.
+ Chartered Engineer with ICE, IStructE, CIWEM or equivalent\.
