Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (civil or electrical), Construction or related field or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience
• Level 1B Advanced Fundamentals - GSWCC Red Card Certification required
• Minimum 4 years of experience working as a utility coordinator with an emphasis on utility plan review/permitting and observation of construction activities related to publicly/privately owned utilities within public right-of-way
• Experience with Georgia Utilities Permitting System (GUPS)
• Requires ability to read and understand work orders, project plans, specifications and standards
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
• General knowledge of franchise agreements, Federal and State laws related to utilities as well as standard utility construction methodologies (i.e. trenching, boring, make ready work, etc.)
• A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
• Familiarity with Georgia Department of Transportation policies for accommodating and permitting utilities in publicly owned right-of-way
• Will require visits to project sites
• Requires work on some nights, weekends and holidays as well as rotational on-call work of up to one week per month
• Valid driver license
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinate with utility companies and permits activities related to construction and maintenance in the City’s rights‐of‐way
• Review lighting plan submissions per City adopted codes for compliance and reviews/ issues construction permits for utility companies within the City’s right-of-way
• Perform a variety of tasks
• Confer with state, county, municipal officials, as well as stakeholders and utility companies in areas of assignment
• Represent the Department to the public that may be affected by the construction of various projects
• Maintain a list of activity utility permit locations and assist with verifying that pertinent repairs are made in the City’s right-of-way
• May lead and direct the work of others
