Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources\.
**Job Summary** AECOM is seeking a talented Staff Engineer to join our team in the Los Angeles, CA office\. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a project team and conduct site assessment and remediation activities for various sites located in southern California\. He/she will obtain all regulatory permits to install a remediation system including air discharge, waste discharge, sanitary sewer, and city building permits for remediation systems\. Candidate will also coordinate and oversee the construction of remediation systems including soil vapor extraction, air\-sparging, ozone injection, bio\-venting, dual phase extraction, and insitu chemical oxidation\. Additional technical services include remedial system evaluation and optimization, mass removal calculations, radius of influence calculations, and associated reporting\.
The staff engineer will also be required to coordinate and conduct site assessment work\. This will include subcontractor scheduling, equipment and sample pickup, soil vapor, water, and soil sample collection, and field documentation\. Field staff engineer will be required to complete boring logs, cross\-sections and technical reports\. Travel within Southern California is required\. The staff engineer will report to various project managers and staff in Southern California\.
Candidate will be responsible for the preparation of technical documents for including site assessment work plans, feasibility studies, health and safety plans, groundwater monitoring reports, site conceptual models, site assessment reports, pilot test reports, remedial system operation and maintenance reports, and closure requests for technical review\.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
+ Oversee and evaluate remedial system O&M data
+ Prepare remedial system designs
+ Facilitate permitting associated with remedial system design \(emissions, waste discharge, sanitary sewer, building and fire\)
+ Facilitate and coordinate remedial system construction
+ Conduct site assessment and well installation activities
+ Drill soil borings and collect and log soil samples
+ Oversee the installation, development and sampling of groundwater wells
+ Oversee the installation and sampling of soil gas wells
+ Oversee the abandonment of groundwater, vapor and soil gas wells
+ Coordinate field activities
+ Obtain competitive cost estimates and support proposal activities
+ Prepare technical reports
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
+ 2\+ years' experience
+ Certification of Engineer in Training \(EIT\)
+ Knowledge of AutoCAD, water and vapor treatment, soil classification, testing, and physical properties, fluid mechanics, toxicity of petrochemical and industrial chemicals, pump and pipe design, biodegration of petrochemical and industrial chemicals, and groundwater modeling
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ PE registration preferred
