Required Experience: • 7+ years of ES&H experience to include significant experience in Construction and General Industry Safety. • Experience with OSHA 29 CFR, 1910 and/or 1926 construction highly desirable. • Must be US Citizen and able to pass/maintain required clearance. Active DoD clearance up to TS/SCI is strongly preferred. Job Description: URS Corporation is looking for an Safety Specialist to join their Program team in Annapolis Junction, MD. This individual will have direct responsibility and oversight for ES&H activities in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 construction, OSHA 29 CFR 1910 general industry, NFPA 70E and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Manual. This individual will also be responsible for developing, implementing and administering safety, health, environmental protection, and substance abuse prevention programs affecting employee and public safety, occupational health, fire protection and prevention, and equipment and property protection. This position will report to the ES&H Manager. The Program consists of multi-year execution of multiple FFP construction projects, T&M projects and reimbursable level of effort scopes. Typical Job duties: • Responsible for complex technical work in a wide range of environmental, safety and health disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements. • Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety and health programs, systems and procedures. • Responsible for monitoring and preventing hazards in the workplace. • Continuously recommending improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazards. • Assists in conduction employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs. • This position will interface with government personnel as well as subcontractor entities. • ES&H Specialists are expected to pursue and/or complete ES&H related professional certifications including, but not limited to the Certified Safety Professional (CSP), the Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) and/or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST).
