Our global network of top\-tier specialists delivers comprehensive services over the full life cycle of a project to benefit clients in government and private industries\. **Job Summary** We are looking to recruit a **Principal Consultant/Associate Directo** r to our Highway Planning team within our Transport Planning Business in our Basingstoke office\. The Transport Planning team is expanding to meet the demands of our wide portfolio of clients – from both within the UK and overseas\. This role has been created to meet existing demands and is intended to grow significantly over time, offering unlimited career progression potential for the right person\. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in transport planning, spanning multiple skill areas as well as managing both projects and a team/s\. Ideally the candidate will come from an analytical background, such as mathematics, economics, geography, or engineering\. We value a combination of analytical and communication skills, with a creative approach to problem solving, and are seeking an individual with an in depth appreciation of their chosen area with excellent knowledge of wider transport planning, and experience of small to medium sized project management\. Our Transport Planning teams plan and evaluate future transport schemes, forecast demand and revenue, develop business cases, undertake economic appraisal, as well as look at the relationships between spatial planning and transport\. We undertake transport modelling at a national and regional level right down to detailed micro\-simulation where individual roads and public transport systems are analysed\. Our current UK public sector clients include the Department of Transport, Transport for London, the Highways Agency as well as a host of local authorities and London boroughs within England\. We also have an expanding project portfolio in Europe and Middle East\. The appropriate level of technical expertise is required in order that the Job / Project Accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standard: •  Act as Project Director/Manager as necessary, with a responsibility for delivering projects within timescale, budget constraints and quality expectations\. Manage the workload and technical and commercial management of a team\. •  Identify and respond to opportunities, prepare fee proposal for submission to client, including resources and programme\. •  Develop staff and assist in training and mentoring with a particular focus on assisting staff gain professional accreditation •  Assist in the development and implementation of business strategies\. •  Undertake Health & Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members and fulfilling all responsibilities for health and safety in design\. •  Set up projects on the AECOM system and allocate budgets to work stages\. •  Prepare and approve fee proposals and contribute to the preparation of submissions\. •  Ensure AECOM systems are up to date and co\-ordinate the timely and correct issuing of invoices\. •  Authorise weekly timesheets of junior members of team\. •  Manage debt recovery procedure\. •  Financial Performance •  Manage the utilisation of the team\. •  Manage expenditure against project fee\. •  Prepare monthly workload and fee forecasts for the group\. •  Ensure IMS procedures are properly followed for all projects, including Environmental and Health & Safety matters\. Ensure understanding of the environmental impacts relating to their projects and AECOM’s offices and encourage environmental awareness in all staff\. •  Work with the relevant Project Directors to ensure that the Project Risk management Procedures are applied to all Projects\. **Minimum Requirements** •  Professional Accreditation such as TPP, CIHT or MICE •  Experience in a number of relevant transport planning and software packages e\.g\. SATURN, PARAMICS, CUBE, EMME, VISSIM, VISUM, TUBA, etc\. •  Experience of managing and developing teams •  Experience of delivering technical challenging transport planning projects •  Experience of working on a variety of projects as project leader with experience of dealing directly with clients •  Knowledge of the market and potential clients in the South East **Preferred Qualifications** •  Membership or working towards membership of a chartered professional institution\. •  A masters degree or PhD in Transport Planning or related subject/social based discipline\. **What We Offer** AECOM is a place where you can put your innovative thinking and business skills into high gear and work alongside other highly intelligent and motivated people\.
