More information on AECOM and its services can be found at www\.aecom\.com\. **About the Business Line** **Water** We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design\-build\. **Job Summary** The Technical Editing team is seeking a creative, talented technical editor for temporary, part\-time employment based out of our Germantown, Maryland office\. The appropriately qualified applicant will provide editorial review of reports, presentations, proposals, and other documents covering a wide variety of technical topics, such as engineering, cultural resources, cost\-benefit analysis, environmental analysis and planning, community and state planning, hazardous waste contamination, water resources, emergency planning, and economic evaluation\. Applicants should possess excellent writing skills; demonstrate mastery of grammar, punctuation, word usage, and syntax; demonstrate skill in enhancing organization, logic, voice, data presentation, and integration of illustrations; and be familiar with the Chicago Style Manual and the Government Printing Office Style Manual\. This position reports to the Editing Team Leader in the Communications Services Group and will work directly with project managers, engineers, and scientists, as well as other editors, proofreaders, and word processors\. Candidate will work with a team of editors that support the Germantown, MD; Arlington, VA; and Roanoke, VA offices \(as well as other offices across the United States\)\. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality of writing in deliverables to our clients\. Assignments and hours will vary by week, depending on workloads and availability\. Incumbent Responsibilities: • Performs substantive edits of a variety of documents; helps to finalize documents and ensure AECOM’s high quality standards • Understands technical communication principles; maintains a working knowledge of authoritative editorial reference works • Quickly learns complex new tasks and information; grasps subtle concepts • Possesses good time\-management skills; ability to work on a tight deadline • Exercises discretion with confidential/ sensitive issues • Understands how to engage with senior technical and management staff to obtain necessary information and commitment for workable deadlines • Manages multiple tasks and provides authoritative editorial suggestions for multi\-author documents **Minimum Requirements** • Bachelor’s degree in English or related field with experience writing/editing for engineering or related disciplines OR Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with demonstrable abilities in technical writing and editing • Minimum 8 years of experience in editing • Ability to edit a wide range of technical documents \(e\.g\., technical, academic, marketing\) for style, clarity, organization, voice, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines • Ability to provide detailed editing of technical documents • Excellent communication skills, especially in writing • Ability to work well with project managers, technical staff, other technical editors, word processing, and graphics staff in the preparation and production of documents • Demonstrated ability to work well in deadline\-driven environment • Self\-motivated, ability to work independently, and willingness to follow up on identified problems and issues • Fluency in editing tools for MS Word and familiarity with formatting tools for MS Word **Preferred Qualifications** None **What We Offer** AECOM is a place where you can put your innovative thinking and business skills into high gear and work alongside other highly intelligent and motivated people\.
