High School graduate or demonstrated equivalent. 2. 5 years of experience as a building or process systems operator, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Experience utilizing a CMMS (computerized maintenance management system). 2. Demonstrated ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 3. Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment. Additional Information: • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. • This position may require a valid Driver’s License. • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization. • This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location. • This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules. Other Attributes: • Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends. Work schedules can change based on business needs. • This position may involve day or night shift work. Physical Requirements: • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English. • Must have the visual ability to determine on screen color changes to SCADA monitored equipment. • Must be able to work at heights greater than 50 feet. • Must be able to communicate with others via radio, telephone and computer/text. • Have the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs. • Have the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift. • This position requires the ability to either sit for long periods of time or walk extensively both indoors and out in any weather during the course of a 12 hour shift. • Have the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift. • Have the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift. • Have the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift. • Have the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift. • Have the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant for shift. • Must have the manual dexterity to use a variety of tools and test equipment associated with the trade. Special Requirements: • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained. Job Description: URS, an AECOM company, is seeking a Utility Operator IV in Cambridge, MA contingent on the award of new business. The Utility Operator IV is responsible for operating, monitoring and controlling support utilities and equipment servicing a large research and development facility. Utility Operators may also perform routes and rounds to validate field conditions, as well as perform light maintenance for the building. Essential Functions: • Operates, monitors parameters for and controls the following via a Building Automation System (BAS) or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA): Steam and electric heating equipment; vertical transport systems; general utility distribution systems; HEPA and conventional HVAC equipment; air compressors; package refrigeration units, cooling water systems; electrical distribution and lighting controls; fire and security alarm systems; sanitary and process drain system. • Operates, monitors and controls the following: cooling towers and associated equipment; process air compressors, carrier refrigeration units, backup instrument air dryer, and cooling water pumps. • Records data on log sheets. • Maintains minimum inventory of operation supplies. • Responsible for safety, quality, housekeeping, and proper care of equipment in their work area. • Performs simple math calculations, reads and analyzes batch programs, and comprehends written instructions and log sheets. • Responsible for communication of plant conditions to management and other operators.
