Our design process is based on energy\-efficient building systems, and appropriate selection of materials and form to maximize environmental conditions and long\-term performance\. **Job Summary** AECOM is seeking a junior\-level Historic Architect/Designer to join the Philadelphia Metro CRM Group\. This interdisciplinary position is in support of a new historic architecture studio within AECOM’s Burlington \(NJ\) Cultural Resources office, and represents a unique opportunity to help grow a new practice and develop a portfolio of creative work responding to challenging contexts\. Candidate will report directly to, and work closely with, the senior Historic Architect leading the practice\. The Burlington office is located in a historic, walkable downtown setting with convenient light rail transit connections to Philadelphia and Trenton, and is less than 75 miles from New York City\. Portfolio review of professional work will be required for this position\. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: + Assist Historic Architect with the application of creative technical design solutions to architectural problems in historic buildings + Assist Historic Architect with field recordation and assessment of historic buildings and environments in accordance with national, state, and local standards + Assist Historic Architect with new practice and assume accelerated leadership roles in identifying, developing and managing architectural practice systems, strategies, and clients + Respond to and incorporate client and regulatory requirements in design solutions, including space programming + Construction administration/field observation, including the use of construction/project management software + HABS/HAER documentation of existing buildings in a Revit/BIM environment + Production of coordinated contract drawings and specifications involving participation of external/internal sub\-consultants under your direction + Selling innovative design solutions to clients, community, agencies and other stakeholders concerned with historic appropriateness + Production of technical reports, field reports, proposals, presentations, including graphics, diagrams, illustrations, and layouts + Development of a BIM standard template and library for production deliverables + Assist with architectural surveys and historical research + Assist in development of historic preservation plans, historic structure reports, Section 106 effects assessments and National Register nominations + Assist Historic Architect in the routine administration of architectural practice, including meeting attendance, record\-keeping, client communication, coordination, documentation, and reports + Assist Historic Architect in the maintenance of various logs and databases + Mentor and collaborate with entry\-level designers, architectural historians, and/or interns + Travel on short notice and extended hours may occasionally be expected **Minimum Requirements** + Professional degree in Architecture from an NCARB\-accredited institution + Generally 5 years of experience in an architectural practice under the supervision of a licensed Architect + Ability to organize and produce architectural drawings across all project phases + Ability to create, manage, and apply BIM standards for a variety of architectural project deliverables + Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering plans and specifications, including especially historic and archival plans/sketches + Ability to use and interpret building and zoning codes, including historic district regulations + Historic resource research and writing skills + Ability to think and write critically about historic character and significance in the American built environment, including vernacular buildings and those in underrepresented communities and contexts associated with African\-American, Latino, Asian American, and LGBT history + Ability to safely perform extensive fieldwork in buildings and environments ranging from good to poor condition in a variety of weather conditions + Strong interpersonal communications skills and desire to work in a team\-oriented environment + Excellent ability to take initiative, identify opportunities, and follow\-through with new ideas + Excellent written and verbal communication skills + Excellent field observation, photography, and architectural research skills + Strong attention to detail and ability to carry multiple projects forward to completion + Strong interest in pursuing the creative work of contemporary architecture within limitations/possibilities of regulated historic contexts + Ability to meet the Secretary of the Interior’s professional qualifications \(36 CFR Part 61\) for Architecture or Historic Architecture with demonstrated interest in the rehabilitation of historic buildings per the Secretary’s Standards + Experience in technical detailing of architectural and conditions, both new and existing + Experience in 3\-D computer modeling/rendering, including ability to work with laser scan and point cloud data/processes in software like Autocad ReCap + Experience in using Autodesk Revit for client deliverables across all project phases \(including and especially existing/historic conditions\) for the production of accurate digital models and reliable construction documents\. \(Candidates with 2\-D CAD skills only will not be considered\) + Experience in using Adobe Creative Suite \(or similar\) for professional graphical work, including especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign + Experience in the use of office productivity software, including Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint + Demonstrated progress in IDP and ARE testing for ultimate licensure/registration as an Architect + Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre\-employment substance abuse test **Preferred Qualifications** + Experience in technical detailing of architectural and conditions, both new and existing + Experience in 3\-D computer modeling/rendering, including ability to work with laser scan and point cloud data/processes in software like Autocad ReCap + Experience in using Autodesk Revit for client deliverables across all project phases \(including and especially existing/historic conditions\) for the production of accurate
