Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering discipline. The incumbent must possess broad knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enables the employee to perform as a senior technical contributor on complex projects or programs. The position requires knowledge and skill sufficient to apply developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area. Excellent communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. The position may require the ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software.
Must qualify for and maintain a security clearance and possess a valid state issued driver's license.
Job Description: Communications Field Engineering Technician, working under general technical guidance, specializing in communications gear and networks supports and reports to CSM
Operates and maintains communications transmitting and receiving equipment, digital and analog computers, industrial measuring and controlling equipment, microwave amplifiers and transmission lines, high voltage power supplies and keying circuits, indicators and displays, and antenna positioning systems. Installs, maintains, repairs, modifies, troubleshoots, constructs, and tests various types of communications equipment
-Applies technical knowledge of electronic principles to solve basic problems using diagrams, schematics, engineering data, and test equipment
-Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and restores equipment to operating condition
-Manipulates computer keyboards and view and interpret computer displays
-Troubleshoots to the component level and make needed repairs
-Assists and/or provide occasional work direction to lower level technicians
-Install, monitor, and service equipment and systems at the company and client sites.
-Performs or coordinate test and evaluation, check-out, and certification tasks
-Performs validations/verifications of various electronic systems
-Designs and writes test procedures, critique system test procedures, and assist in the development of upgrades and enhancements
-Investigates system problems and provide white papers on the results of the investigation and prepare recommendations and solutions on system problems to include alternate testing to verify change and implements Engineering Change Instructions
-Establishes/maintains a filing system and databases to track project status and inventory
-Direct on-site customer interface for equipment/system installation, testing, and fabrication
-Complies with engineering documentation standards, engineering plans, system specifications, and test procedures
-Provides technical data and evaluation for components, equipment and systems consistent with engineering plans, layout and contract requirements
-Supports engineers in the development of technical proposal and provide input on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work
-Performs work and other position-related work as required and uses established policies and procedures and subject matter knowledge to complete assignments of moderate complexity
