**Job Summary**
The Assistant Resident Engineer\- M/E is required for the construction of a Sewage Treatment Plant in Dubai\. In the absence of the Resident Engineer, the Assistant will assume his duties\.
Duties will include:
+ Administrating contract works, and assisting the Resident Engineer \(RE\) with prompt exchange of correspondence, submittals, and RFI’s to all contractors\.
+ Assigning and supervising the inspection staff on a daily basis so that all contractor activities are adequately covered\.
+ Supervising and remaining vigilant regarding all aspects of the construction activities\. Responding with appropriate and necessary levels of supervision to provide quality assurance in accordance with contract documents\.
+ Coordinating the interface of the construction work with other contractors on the site\. Liaising with inspectors to verify that the contractor is following his approved site Health & Safety plan\.
+ Assisting the RE and Quantity Surveying \(QS\) team in negotiations with the contractor regarding the value of claims or changes in schedule\.
+ Reviewing the contractor’s progress at all times\. Monitoring the material incorporated in the work, the materials stored at the site, and the contractor’s manpower and equipment\.
+ Attending weekly, monthly, and other progress meetings held at the site as required by the Senior Resident Engineer \(SRE\)\. Identifying constraints and recommending corrective measures\.
+ Reviewing inspector’s daily reports and preparing the engineer’s daily diary, and generally overseeing the inspector’s daily activities including works assignments, on\-site performance, and supervising the contractor’s operations\.
+ Coordinating with contractor’s supervisory personnel regarding schedule, sequence, and method of work\.
+ Assisting the SRE to prepare written and oral reports for the RE on contractual and procedural matters\.
Specific Skills Required;
Excellent working knowledge of industry practices/safety/quality management systems\.
High level of critical thinking skills\.
High level of management skills\.
Clear verbal communication skills\.
Understanding of contract documents and specifications\.
**Minimum Requirements**
Minimum 12 years of relevant experience\.
**Preferred Qualifications** A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering \(or similar\) from an accredited University is essential\.
