**Job Summary** Our Transportation team currently have a vacancy in our Edinburgh office for a **Technician** with experience of working on large infrastructure projects\. AECOM are currently expanding their Bridges teams in Scotland and Ireland following several major project wins and require additional technician resources with proven skill in the use of AutoCAD, including CADS RC, and 3\-D modelling software\.
The Edinburgh office is expanding to develop work locally and to assist Aecom with the increasing workload in the UK and overseas\. You would be part of a Bridges Sector, covering Scotland and Ireland, numbering over 50 staff, including three experienced technicians\. The Sector works closely with other disciplines from the Rail, Geotechnical, Environment, Transport Planning and Building Divisions\.
The successful candidate will be an experienced detailer in all the modern materials gained on a variety of bridge and infrastructure projects\. You will have a proven level of experience of delivering projects in accordance with the requirements of the Eurocodes, to the client’s satisfaction\. Knowledge of the BIM process would be an advantage\.
You will have strong development skills with the ability to manage and supervise the work of less experienced staff, as required\. You will also have the technical ability, knowledge and competence to provide guidance and to teach others\.
The services offered to our clients include feasibility studies, scheme designs, detailed designs and design checking\. Our clients are from the private and public sector and include Transport Scotland, Network Rail, Transport NI, Translink, Iarnrod Eireann, several major civil engineering contractors and power supply companies\. Our current portfolio of works comprises a diverse mix of local and national rail and highway infrastructure projects\.

+ Design of the widening and strengthening of Dargan railway viaduct
+ Design of widening of an existing multi\-level highway interchange bridge and approach ramps at Brent Cross
+ Assessment of the M8 White Cart Viaduct foundations
+ Design of Burn of Whilk WTG bases
+ Design of the M8 Hillington Footbridge D&B
**Job Responsibilities:**
The appropriate level of technical expertise is required in order satisfy the post requirements, as follows;
+ Detailing of bridge and civil engineering structures in all the major materials
+ Review and comment on CAD/BIM generated deliverables\.
+ Keep design team informed of all CAD/BIM information necessary for the project duration\.
+ Provide support as required to the wider team\.
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Strong experience in the detailing of major bridge and civil engineering works, in all the modern materials using AutoCAD including CADS RC\.
+ Experience in detailing to the Eurocodes
+ Relevant and recent hands\-on experience of using the industry standard CAD/BIM applications\. For example: Bentley \- MicroStation, Structural Modeller, AECOsim, Railtrack, Open Roads etc\. Autodesk \- AutoCAD, Revit, Civil3D etc\.
+ Experience in the supervision and instruction of less experienced technician staff
**Preferred Qualifications** ONC or HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualifications with industry standard CAD/BIM enabled applications\.
