**Job Summary** AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Mechanical Engineer for immediate employment in the Southfield Michigan office\. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in mechanical design, specific to Design and Construction Documentation for HVAC systems which includes air handling systems, DDC Temperature Controls, Building Automation Systems, chiller plants and associated systems and boiler plants, both steam and hot water heating and associated systems\. It also includes plumbing, fire protection and medical gases in new and existing Building Projects\. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects\. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Serve as a lead engineer on assigned projects and/or complex engineering assignments\. Will be considered a technical specialist for the office in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles or processes for mechanical systems
+ Will be involved with developing plans and specifications for projects with unique or controversial problems that have an important effect on major organization programs which involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches
+ Oversee the design activities of junior engineers and designers to verify that quality controls and project criteria are met and within budget\. Delegates these activities and trains less experienced staff
+ Full Technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments and managing projects from small to large in scope both simple and very complex
+ Assist in the development of department standards and procedures
+ Support proposal and business development efforts by identifying potential clients and work, assist Business Line Managers and PM's in the development of new business, marketing to potential and existing clients\. Will lead proposals which are engineering related\.
+ Will be reviewing contract bidding and administration and will be responsible for the final release of design documents to the client
+ Provide advice and consultation to client on engineering matters, including compliance with government laws and regulations

+ Serve as a project manager on engineering related projects after taking course material and becoming a Certified AECOM Project Manager

**Minimum Requirements**
+ Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
+ Professional Engineering \(PE\) License
+ Minimum 12 years of related experience which includes mechanical design for new buildings, restoration and renovation projects
+ Experience in the design of HVAC systems which includes air handling systems, DDC Temperature Controls, Building Automation Systems, chiller plants and associated systems and boiler plants, both steam and hot water heating and associated systems \- includes plumbing, fire protection and medical gases in new and existing Building Projects for Healthcare Facilities, Offices, Commercial Buildings, Industrial and Retail
+ Experience in coordinating MEP systems with architectural design and field experience providing construction administration services
+ Great Supervisory Skills
+ Strong verbal presentation and communication skills
+ Skills to clearly communicate with Clients and URS peers and provide clear direction to staff working under their directions
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, ACAD 2012 or greater
+ Familiarity with REVIT software to be able to properly direct staff through the design process on a project
+ Proficiency in Trane Trace and other HVAC and energy analysis software
+ Must be able to work independently
+ Valid driver's license required
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Responsible for actingindependently on technical matters pertaining to the field\. Work at this level usually requires extensiveprogressive experience
+ Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits
+ Supervises group of engineers and/ortechnicians, coordinating activities of the unit
+ Licensed professional engineer
+ Member of professional or technical society
