Minimum Requirements: Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science, Nursing (BSN) with current WV state RN licensure
• BLS certification
• 5 years as a Registered Nurse in a medical facility.
• Must have and maintain all credentialing and state licensure requirements.
• The successful candidate will possess strong organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate and prioritize projects and day to day tasks.
• Must have the ability to adapt to changes as they occur.
• Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be US Citizens
Preferred Requirements:
• Completion of a NIOSH approved Spirometry course
• Experience performing audiograms and certification in audiometry as an Occupational Hearing Conservationist (OHC)
• Dual licensure in PA and WV
• ACLS and BLS instructor certification
• Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) or Certified Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist (COHN-S)
• Occupational Health experience
• Experience with Workers' Compensation program case management
• Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations

In a small team environment, the nurse assists in the day to day operations of the Occupational Health Unit (OHU), including but not limited to occupational and non-occupational patient evaluation and care, performing screening occupational health tests listed below, and evaluating test results. Ensures testing performance is in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, plans, policies and procedures. Ensures medical testing results are entered into medical database as well as providing hard copy results to employees as requested by DOE and the employee. Assists in assessment of program in terms of regulatory compliance and best medical practices. Prepares reports as requested, makes recommendations for improvements. Keeps abreast of current developments in occupational health issues and associated laws and regulations.
Under physician direction, provides phlebotomy services, administers immunizations and over the counter medications, performs testing such as vision testing, pulmonary function (PFT/spirometry), EKG, UA by dipstick and audiograms when needed for clearances.
In a team effort, determines employees needing entry into various health programs (hearing, respirator, medical surveillance, etc).
Documents employee visits, injuries, illnesses and treatment administered by first aid and/or medical referral necessary in the medical record and database. Ensures that testing is performed correctly and results appropriately documented, Reports injuries as required by the company, State and Federal regulations. Manages workers’ compensation cases and maintains workers’ compensation case files as appropriate and in accordance with the pertinent laws and regulations. Participates in, conducts and documents periodic health inspections.
Ensures that appropriate information is provided to the employer/supervisor about medical restrictions without violating employee privacy/Health Information Portability and Privacy Act (HIPPA) requirements. Participates in employee training, emergency preparedness and ensures the quality of programs. Refers employees for ergonomic evaluations, participates in emergency response drills and CPR/AED/FA training as appropriate. Provides consultations, wellness education, and referrals.
