Requisition Number: FS103650 Interest Category: Operations & Maintenance Interest Sub Category: Operations & Maintenance Job Title : Aircraft Mechanic III Employment Category/Status: full-time Type of Position: Regular Hire Country: U.S. State: Florida City: Jacksonville Minimum Requirements: URS Corporation has an opportunity for qualified Aircraft Mechanic III in support of U.S. Navy flight line maintenance operations at NAS Jacksonville, FL. Shift work and Detachments required. Requires P-3 Maintenance Control Supervisor, Naval Enlisted Classification 8300 code. Candidate must be familiar with Naval Aviation Logistic Command Management Information System (NALCOMIS) operations. Knowledge and use of special tools / equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory. Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks. Will be required to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. Job Description: Skill and Knowledge: Shall have the ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in various aircraft systems and be able to perform general Organizational/Intermediate/Depot Level maintenance of the assigned aircraft. In addition must possess a level of experience necessary to inspect all aircraft assigned, direct flight line/deck operations, release aircraft Safe for Flight, and possess one or more of the specialties of the assigned aircraft below: Propulsion/Engine/Rotor/Transmission/Drive and Fuel Systems Airframe/Structural, Landing Gear, Launch/Arresting, Wing/Pylon Fold, Hydraulic/Pneumatic, and mechanical Flight Control Systems Egress and/or Environmental Control Systems Aviation Life Support Systems (ALSS) Avionics Communication/Navigation/Identification/Electronic Countermeasures/RADAR and Weapon Control Systems Power Distribution/Electrical Power, Instruments, Compass, Automatic Flight Control and Lighting Systems Aircraft Armament and/or Crew Served Weapon Systems Responsibility: Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Independently performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs, lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives. Determines what repairs, modifications, and part replacements are required. Prioritizes work load of team to maintain assigned schedule and spot checks and inspects work of other team members. A person in this position does the following; maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation. This worker also applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals. Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems. A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is required. The incumbent must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike, must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule. This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records, and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.
