**Job Summary** We're seeking a Senior Immigration Specialist to join our team in Glen Allen, Virginia or Austin, Texas\!
The Sr\. Immigration Specialist provides operational support to the Global Mobility department enabling the team to deliver solutions to clients seamlessly across all visa and immigration related matters across the Americas\. This position provides service and interacts with national, regional and local HR colleagues, employees and partners of the firm, and the firm’s external vendors
The Sr\. Immigration Specialist will directly support department Managers and team members with the delivery of all types of visa and immigration services demonstrating flexibility, adaptability and initiative\. The Associate will be expected to independently coordinate and administer assigned visa and immigration processes and services to employees across the firm
This role will support the Global HR strategy and will have a key focus on influencing and engaging with key stakeholders and working collaboratively with the global business and mobility teams
Duties
• Provide advice and guidance to stakeholders on general immigration procedures, timelines and expectations\. This will include new and existing foreign national employees \(domestic hires, international assignees and transfers\) as well as supporting the needs of international business travelers within the firm
• Facilitate and maintain the highest level of communication with employees and stakeholders regarding the progression and status of assigned cases
• Assist in the preparation and coordination of assigned temporary/permanent resident processes and documents
• Assist in the development and delivery of training for talent acquisition and HR community on visa and immigration topics, and global mobility policies and procedures
• Coordinate and monitor the status of immigration cases with the firm’s immigration counsel ensuring timely, quality services and compliance with government regulations
• Build internal partnerships to ensure immigration services meet the needs of our employees
• Continuously develop technical knowledge of immigration legislation/regulation and participate in re\-engineering of processes in response to new compliance requirements
• Exercise sound judgment and escalate issues when appropriate
• Prepare and maintain program activity tracking and reporting to include metrics and trends
• Analyze and prepare high\-level summaries of program activity
• Maintain all visa and immigration files and records including public access files, export compliance documents, and posting notices
• Reconcile and prepare invoices for processing
**Minimum Requirements** What we're looking for:
Experience:
Past experience \(5\-7 years\) functioning as an in\-house Immigration Specialist preferably within a consulting or professional services environment or working as a Senior Paralegal for a US Immigration law firm\.
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance or related discipline\.
Specific Skills Required:
• Must have proven knowledge of US and Canadian immigration laws and demonstrated ability to consistently and positively contribute in a fast\-paced environment\.
• Strong verbal and written communication & presentation skills\.
• A reputation for discretion, integrity, sound judgment, responsiveness, strong attention to detail and common sense\.
• Solid PC skills with proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint\.
