Experience: 10 years experience environmental related. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Must possess a minimum of intermediate level capabilities with word processing and spreadsheet programs (e.g. Word and Excel). • Must be a self-starter, demonstrate initiative and be able to work with diverse work groups and in a teamwork environment. • Must willing to address emerging environmental issues as they arrive, at times off hour and weekend work will be required. • Must be willing to rotate as an "on-call" representative 24/7 to address environmental occurrences • Ability to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision. • Must possess a valid driver's license or ability to obtain prior to start of job. • Must have attention to detail. • Ability to adapt to changing work scope, deadlines and multiple priorities. • Due to the nature of the work, candidate must be a US Citizen Preferred Requirements: • Professional experience with recycling programs for non-recyclable and recyclable waste streams. • McCoys RCRA training certificate desirable • Experience in taking samples of waste streams (typically water and solids) for the presence of hazardous waste and or radiological contamination is desirable. Additional Information: • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. • Candidate must be able to pass a health based breathing respirator fit test. • Previous work experience with conducting the functions noted in the Position Description will be a weighing factor in candidate interview selection. • Relocation: some assistance is available for this position Job Description: AECOM is seeking an Sustainability Coordinator to be based in our Carlsbad, NM location. AECOM-Global Management & Operations Services—Managing high-risk, technically complex programs and facilities for government clients is an area of expertise. We are the market leader in nuclear and high-hazard environmental management for the U.S. Department of Energy and are expanding that expertise to similar markets in Europe. We are also the only company in the United States to stabilize high-level radioactive waste. Typical Responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following: • Report writing and document production are a strong component of this position. • Incumbent will be required to coordinate receipt of multiple sets of document comments and maintain version control of the documents through final document submittal(s). Keep Safety as the number one priority for all work scope. Position Description: The successful candidate will coordinate the recycling program at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) Facility and write various reports, on behalf of the US DOE - Carlsbad Field Office, representing the annual summation of the recycle success at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) . The individual will be the lead contact with subcontractors for recycling programs - batteries, toner cartridges, plastic, paper, cardboard, and wood, as well as coordinate removal from the Facility of general waste for land fill disposal. Individual will team with other staff for disposal of non-recyclable waste streams that must be sent to other facilities for proper disposal. Individual will be trained to sample waste streams (typically water and solids) for the presence of hazardous waste and or radiological contamination. Upon completion of specific training, the individual will rotate as an "on-call" representative 24/7 to address environmental occurrences at the WIPP Facility during off hours. Candidate will team with other Environmental staff to address emerging environmental issues as they arrive, at times off hour and weekend work will be required. Candidate will receive Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) training, to assist in work scope associated with, managing waste at the WIPP Facility.
